Four Rounds, Two New Anglers and Another Premier League Title Up for Grabs
Andy Power returns to defend his title as Season 2 begins at Monkhall Fishery on Tuesday 11th August.
The wait is nearly over. Season 2 of the Fishub Premier League gets underway at Monkhall Fishery on Tuesday 11th August, with four more rounds ahead to decide our next Premier League champion.
Andy Power begins the new campaign as the man everyone will be looking to beat after becoming our inaugural champion, but all 20 anglers start again from zero and there are 40 points available across the four rounds.
There are also two new faces joining the Premier League for Season 2, with Sam Brown and Charlie Law entering the 20-angler field following the departure of two anglers from Season 1.
They’ll be thrown straight into the action at Monkhall before the competition visits Hayfield Lakes, Messingham Sands and finally Tunnel Barn Farm. Four very different matches lie ahead, and consistency could once again prove crucial when the final points are counted.
Four Venues Will Decide the Season 2 Champion
Season 1 showed just how close the Fishub Premier League can be. Andy Power and Tom Edwards finished the inaugural season locked together on 35 points, with Power eventually taking the title thanks to his greater combined weight across the four rounds.
Now the scores are reset and the entire field gets another opportunity.
The format remains all about performing consistently across four very different matches. With the field divided into two sections of ten, a section win earns 10 points, with the points reducing through the section from there.
A bad result can quickly change the championship picture, while consistently finishing towards the top of a section can keep an angler firmly in contention all the way to the final round.
Round 1 – Monkhall Fishery
Tuesday 11th August
Season 2 begins at Monkhall Fishery, where the mix of ide, F1s and carp gives the anglers an immediate decision to make. Building a weight with numbers of fish could provide one route, while targeting carp could potentially produce the bigger weights needed for maximum points.
Getting that balance right could be crucial. Ide and F1s can provide steady action, but knowing when to change approach and concentrate on carp could have a major influence on the opening result.
Round 2 – Hayfield Lakes
Tuesday 18th August
Just one week later, the Premier League heads to Hayfield Lakes for Round 2.
Hayfield provides one of the biggest stages in match fishing and offers the anglers numerous ways of approaching their peg. Waggler, bomb, long pole, short pole and margin fishing could all potentially play a part.
With no single method guaranteed to dominate, adaptability will be important as the anglers work out where their best opportunities lie during the match.
Round 3 – Messingham Sands
Tuesday 22nd September
After the two August rounds, the competition resumes at Messingham Sands in September.
Carp are likely to play an important role, but the venue also creates the possibility of valuable weights of silverfish. Pole, bomb and waggler approaches could all come into consideration, giving the anglers several possible routes to a strong section result.
By this stage of the season, every point will become increasingly important as the championship table begins to take shape.
Round 4 – Tunnel Barn Farm
Monday 19th October
The Season 2 champion will ultimately be decided at Tunnel Barn Farm, one of the country’s most recognisable commercial match fisheries and a venue renowned for its prolific F1 fishing.
Meat, pellets, maggots, casters and groundbait could all potentially feature, while different areas of the peg can come into play as the match develops.
It’s a fitting venue for the finale, where the ability to adapt and make the right decisions throughout the match could ultimately determine who lifts the Season 2 title.

We’ll hear from anglers while they’re actually fishing, getting their thoughts on how their peg is developing and the decisions they’re making. Our presenter will follow the changing picture around the venue, while technical spotlights will take a closer look at tactics and subjects particularly relevant to each match.
Season 1 produced a championship that went all the way to the final result. Now Andy Power has a title to defend, Sam Brown and Charlie Law have their first chance to make their mark, and another 20-angler battle is about to begin.
